Sometimes, when dealing with how to set up a wireless router, you may have to do a little bit of assembling. Linksys in particular likes to give you a little building block kit when you buy one of their routers. Not to worry, though, it’s usually just a matter of snapping a few antennas into the back and you’re good to go. It’s not like when electronics stores used to sell those radio kits that kids could put together, they come with just a piece or two that you need to snap on.

Installation

Next is installation. Once it’s all plugged in and ready, you’ll have to make sure your computer recognizes it. Usually you can just start your internet browser and the automatic detection will kick in. If not, routers always come with software to help install the router itself.

It’s still not working!

Try the old computer voodoo trick: Unplug all the phone lines and power from the router and modem, wait fifteen seconds, and plug it all back in. Sometimes your computer has trouble identifying new connections right off the bat, so this little “refresh” technique should get the job done. If not, check your internet bill and see when was the last time you paid!
