The router worked fine for 10 days, then failed. Linksys product support insisted I go though a complicated reset procedure, after which it worked for an additional 12 hours and then failed completely. Another long call to product support, resulting in the tech finally agreeing it was defective and could be returned for a replacement. But she failed to record the conclusion, so when I called customer service (a separate number of course!) for an RMA number to return it, they had no record of the decision, and I had to start over with product support. After another long call, the new tech agreed it was defective and said he would connect me with customer service, but I sat on hold for >20 minutes and customer service never came on. Called again the next day, finally got customer service, who gave me my RMA number. Turned out Linksys was bought by Belkin in March, 2013, so I had to sent the router back to Belkin in Indiana. They promised a replacement would be sent within 1 week. Now it’s three weeks after my old router was returned (I have tracking # to prove it), but no replacement. Right now I am on hold with Belkins, where I have been, on and off, for >45 minutes! Even if they finally get me a replacement (unclear at this point), I would never buy from Belkin/Linksys again.

After glossing over all the negative reviews I decided to buy this product anyway due to past satisfaction with Cisco/Linksys products. That was a mistake. While set up was fairly straight forward the router produced very unstable connections to my home network clients. Speed varied wildly despite a strong and steady cable modem internet connection. Over an hour on the phone with Linksys support proved worthless. Call back from a higher lever tech never came. Product has been returned as junk. Feel sorry for Cisco shareholders who must own warehouses full of junked returns with their only hope to find more suckers to buy them as refurbished. My best recommendation is for John Chambers (Cisco CEO) to take a EA4500 home one night and try to set it up himself. Then return to the office the next day and terminate the accountable employees who designed, manufactured, and marketed this lemon. I should note however that Amazon’s service and returns process was exceptional – thank you for that. I am back to my old router with good results but with slightly slower speeds than my modems output. I will wait to upgrade my router another day.

    In less than a day the 2. 4GHZ band …, November 4, 2015

In less than a day the 2.4GHZ band of this router dropped to 512kbps despite 90mbps coming out of the modem attached to it. Linksys customer support is a joke. I bought this on account of my previous Linksys/Cisco router lasting 7 years. According to Linksys support this is a known issue. That being said, the 5GHZ band worked flawlessly, though most of my devices can only connect to the 2.4GHZ frequency.
